Default Fuel Additive

Porsche does not recommend any additives for the oil, but I have not read anything about fuel additives.

Is anyone using a fuel additive to clean the injectors, etc?

If so, which additive do you recommend?

Thanks,

Paul

Techron or Stabil.

There are two versions of Techron in the stores - the more expensive one is better.

One comment - use a fuel additive during short-trip driving, not on a road trip. Much more effective with brief runs alternating with hot soaks.

Don't mega-dose with the additive...

Chevron with Techron is good. Add to your fuel, and use that tank up, prior to your oil change(s).

since we are all talking about fuel additives and such, i'm about to put a new fuel pump in, is there anything i should do to prepare it, as far as additives or what ever, or should i just drop it in and go.

I use the Techron as Wally said. A few times a year. Never had an issue.
Dont add it before you take a roadtrip. Its gone before it has a chance to work. Let it sit and ferment !

Seafoam, Techron or Stabil.

I've had notable improvements in driveability issues after using each. I alternate them for (hopefully) maximum effect on a 3-6 month basis.

I put a bottle of SeaFoam in a full tank when I park it for the winter. It's both a system cleaner and a stabilizer, according to the label.

Do NOT use Octane boost in the fuel.

My Porsche trained (Stuttgart) mechanic says that it seems to dry out the fuel pumps and tells me that is the worst thing for the fuel pumps. This, after I replaced 3 fuel pumps and couldn't figure out why they were burning out. He asked me if I used the additive after the third replacement and once I stopped, there were no more fuel pump problems.

Maybe a coincidence, but loose cause and effect results leads me to believe what he is saying.
