Default Vibrations at 4000rpms

I use my 79' as a daily driver, but I mainly only drive to and from school (about 5 minutes away). I drove it last night and it did fine, other than idling a little to high. Well this morning, i leave for school and all seems well until I hit 4000rpms. Everything began to vibrate especially the gear shifter (5 speed) and, what feels like, the TT. The torque tube was replaced by the previous owner about 2 years ago because someone had decided to do some donuts. I've searched and searched, and finally found the same problem, but it was with a 944. The guys on there said to check the balance shaft sprockets. Are there balance shaft sprockets on the 928? Where are there? Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help

Okay I'll play!

Clutch plates mounted 180 degrees wrong?

Wouldn't that show up as soon as the torque tube was changed?

Most likely a clutch torque tube issue..... maybe the front torque tube bearing and carrier has walked back into the tube ??? not too uncommon.

Doesn't the 79 also come with a shock to stabilize the engine in addition to the motor mounts? Maybe one of the bolts anchoring that worked lose?

Bad Torque Tube. Sorry. Not super expensive, but not super cheap either. The bearing carriers have migrated and are no longer supporting the drive shaft. I would recommend Constantine's solution. I should have done it myself, but I got cheap. Wish I done it.

You do realize that you should not try to drive it this way. You already took out the clutch arm plastic bushing possibly the guide tube and pilot bearing......you can also break the short clutch shaft which is now a $600 or so part. So park it until you can fix it.
