Hi 69gaugeman, I'm sure things will be pretty crazy here during the world cup.
Happy to hear that there is very few interfaces between the systems. Actually, the mix of old style digital/analog electronics and vacuum controls will be time consuming, but way better than what you mentioned, the Audi/Mercedes Can-based systems. In my wife GM Captiva, the car stopped running because of single connector from the stereo that was disconnected from the unit (the connector with the emergency chimes).
Because of this, I even mentioned with James, I may consider in a distant future, when the original brain eventually fails, migrating to a programmable fuel injection system, that I can see everything that is going on in a simple notebook.
One question: when I drove the car the shifting (auto trans 4 speed) was a little bumpy. Do you believe this could be only the vacuum modulator in the transmisssion? Thanks and best!

As long as the trans was NOT slipping on shifts it could easily be vacuum related depending on where they are picking it up on the engine plus if it is the 83 trans they HAD to adapt the throttle control cable to fit the S-4 engine....just part of the many modifications that had to be done.

Plus look up Mercedes 722 transmission. There is a LOT of information on these transmissions. They are actually an amazing transmission as you can control all of the features: shift points, shift speed, flare, downshift points, using all vacuum and mechanical (springs or screw adjustment) means. It is why that transmission was so widely used from the 190 up to the 300 and 400's . I am not a transmission expert, but have read lots on it while trying to figure out how to set some of the parts when I replaced them.

Good luck with it!

Hey guys, thanks for the reply. I believe the slightly bumpy shift is the only bad thing I was able to see during my testdrive, and probably what I will focus in as soon as I receive the car. But no slipping at all! The other thing is adding at least one muffler (intermediate or rear), as the car is very loud, since the PO removed both. Is legal not to have mufflers here, but not confortable in my opinion.

Welcome to the 'INSANITY'. I also have an '83 928s. Mine is a Euro and I love it. You have to be a little crazy to have a 30 year old super car that was kind of rare to begin with, but the looks i get when I drive it is well worth the hassle. I really like the wire stone guards on the headlights. Try to get a set for the lights in the nose because they are VERY easy to get stone chips in and are EXPENSIVE, at least for my Euro. Again, WELCOME FELLOW SHARK DRIVER!!

Thanks StrikeMaster. By the way, very cool helmet in your profile picture! And thanks for the recommendation on the guards for the lights, this is exactly what I need to know to buy now and ship together with the car. Thanks!
