That's what I thought. Maybe I'm lost. RKD is saying that the stock tensioner with the warning light could have helped prevent the failure but evidently he had that.

There have been several incidents of bent valves and the car had the OEM tensioner......perhaps 69guageman would care to share?

Might to difficult to find in search as the thread was mostly on another site as some don't believe in being RL members.

100% not the factory tensioner fault. It was MY fault. In fact the tensioner was SCREAMING at me something was wrong. I ignored that message. If I had flat bedded it home and pulled off the covers I would have discovered the problem. The porkensioner would not have even afforded me that.

You can be sure I won't make that mistake twice.

It also WASN'T the tensioner that caused the problem.

So really you have not added anything to your argument and have actually pointed out a situation where the factory system is FAR superior. Thank you Malcolm.

Been covered in another thread. (You can search for it and post a link here for others to see)

If RL had any brains, they would allow everyone to post pictures. This is a technical forum and if people are willing to spend their free time putting up write ups and take pictures. Wouldn't it make sense to let them post it and build content for RL? RL's revenue is based on advertising, content draws in people and this makes RL advertising worth more revenue for RL.

You can post pictures, even you are smart enough to figure out how. You just can't upload and take up Rennlists server hard drive space for your convenience. Play to play buddy, this is not something new for you to bitch about.

Explain please. Unless you have to host somewhere else, then link to that. In which case ef that. When you have lots to post it's a pain in the ***.

You understand Sean, that we are giving the product for ib to sell, right? As such they should host it on their servers. They are the ones making money from it. Is it really that hard to see? It also makes the product better when there are not missing pictures because a host made a small change or the originator changes hosts....

I understand completely. I'm not giving **** to IB, I'm giving it to this community, with my permission. I pay IB for OT, a side benefit is the server space. Which is why I try not to load anything on their servers (and they have failed at copying them thus far....was funny when they were downloading them at the same time it was uploaded with a link). I host them on another site and link in. It's actually two steps easier to do so than to load them here, but I'd expect Imre to know that.

I still have my pictures because i don't rely on IB to keep them. Totally understand your POV, but if $18.00 is too much for his mooching *** to cough up, then he really shouldn't be owning a 928 or 996. Much less giving advice on how to keep one running. Then again, the advice isn't worth paying for most times.

So, now that the off topic portion of this thread is over, can we get back on topic?

I was just about to post the same thing, until I realized quite a few non-paying members have uploaded photos onto the Rennlist server.

Two examples:
https://rennlist.com/forums/10810791-post7728.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/10826830-post7743.html

I have no idea what the limit is, but it appears anyone can upload photos into a post.

I've posted thousands of photos on this place, 95% of them are hosted on my own personal server. The main reason? It's easier..... at least for me.

There's a limit and once you've hit that, you can't do anymore. They know this and have been bitching about it for almost 2 years. Or at least when the free membership gave out.

Gotcha, I figured it was something like that but I was too lazy to look it up

Imagine the outcry if IB would have back billed them for the free years....

Eric, of course you have no idea of the limit!

Well, you are a GB fan. So you are excused....

Near as I can surmise, the pelican site is quite a bit more civilized.

Why the personal attacks Sean? Is that all you have left? Years ago I paid for a membership it wasn't given for free, why it didn't expire on time is RL's fault not mine. In that time I added write ups that I think are avaluable to RL (go see the 996 engine repair on). This is something that is not possible anymore, not in a way that I did then. Hosting the pictures off site doesn't interest me. Maybe you are more computer savy than I but to me that is a huge deterrent. Also, if RL doesn't think those pictures are worth hosting then why do I have to bothet to make them money. They should re think their bussiness plan. I'm not going to bash IB as I have no idea or care to know what the arangement is between RL and IB. I don't know if IB owns RL or leases it or whatever and its really not important.

Maybe you should pay more attention to what goes on around you, then you might quit harping on the same things month after month after month. It's not a personal attack when something is observed constantly and you get called out for it. Quit playing the victim here, your not.
