Thanks for the tip MjRocket. That is actually 1/4 inch carpet felt underpad that my wife just happen to bring home from her job. I cut it to fit and tightened the anchor bolt nice and tight to keep it from moving . I also used the remainder of the space to place my fix-a-flat, air pump and misc. tools and tucked them in tight with some additional heavy foam pieces. Everything is tight and stable and stored away. Save a ton of weight by removing the spare also.

I went to check out Tonys spare tire sub today. Its definately worth the $49 you pay for. Does it thump in the trunk. No...but its better than a stock setup. You would notice the different with or without. My bazooka tube by comparison would deliver much deeper bass and thump the trunk. Its still a viable option for the price and space saving. B TW Tonys gotta sweet ride. Love the color. The LEDs all all round including LED headlight has my winter project penciling in LED upgrades. A scenic treat as I left the Ants compound will have me pay more visits.

I just bought one also. Having trouble wiring it up. The red goes to power, the black/white goes to ground. The green & grey wires are probably for additional speakers?? Then there is a yellow wire??
Does this need an additional amplifier? My head unit has Sub Woofer RCA connections.
Thanks

And do I have to buy separate wire for the RCA plug out from the head unit to the sub woofer RCA plug in? Any particular gauge or home speaker wire would work?
My head unit is an Alpine CDA-9813.

I just got mine today, but won't install it for a while. AFAIK, the speaker level inputs are optional - leave them unconnected if you're using RCA inputs.

Yes. RCA cables typically come pre-made, using some form of shielded cable (to minimise the noise picked-up on the low voltage signals). I wouldn't use speaker wire.

This is probably a good thread to ask on - any good guides to routing cables from the wheel well to the head unit / OEM amplifier?

So I finally decided to get to installing this thing. I have a car with a very pristine interior. As I began looking at the required removal of the center and rear console and seats I decided I don't really need a sub woofer as much as I like having a solid interior. If anyone is interested in this unused Spair tire subwoofer and wiring kit I have let me know and I will let you have it for what I've for invested.$50 plus shipping or come get it I Phoenix I don't hardly turn on the radio anyway. I prefer the sound of the engine.

Probably follow your way along the torque tube hump from the battery box. I was thinking about this the other day while under the car.

BTW--didn't realize you are in Los Altos. I work in Palo Alto (once a month I go to HQ from North Carolina). Sending a PM.

Ok so I had a moment of stupid there. I ran the RCA and remote on wire from the back of the radio down and tucked along the drivers side edge of the console and under the drivers seat. Tucked under the floor carpet edge and beside the left rear seat and up into the back under the carpet. Next I ran a positive wire from the battery and the. A ground from the rear hatch release mount bolt. Put in the Linder stud for the Spair tire and put some padding in and hooked it up. The stock tire cover and carpet fit just fine.it impressed my 10 year old once turned on rap.

Was your RCA cable pre made? What length did you use?
What color was your remote on wire? Where did you connect that wire to on the head unit?
Did you have RCA sub woofer connections on your head unit and still needed the remote on wire connected?
Thanks

Ok found the switched connection at the head unit. Will have to buy some wire and connectors.
The RCA cable should be 6-7 ft if you are buying pre-made. I am going to try an 8ft one and see if I can hide it along the front console, to the right of the driver seat and then up the side of the rear seat and into the spare wheel well.
