Lots of heat damage in the interior. I doubt the black seats are original

Some minor bits missing, but could be a good deal for someone looking for a 5-speed with digital dash.

The shifter looks original (hasn't been replaced with short shifter, or later style boot) - and in pretty good shape compared to the few 5-spd S4's I've owned, so I'd guess the seats are original.
Looks like water damage around the sunroof, so I'd have a good look under the carpets and behind the CE panel for corrosion.

The GTS bumper is also indicative of a rear hit and an insurance-funded new bumper, so some careful measurement of the frame would be important too.

Has LSD too..

The intake looks to have had a rattle can paint job.
The car is located in Ontario Canada, so will have to be imported into the US. Custom fees & taxes might be incurred. If you are bidding on the car check with the US customs.

Intake and cam covers have been rattle-canned in place - see silver injector wiring poking out from right side fuel rail cover. See silver intake sensor and rubber flappy cover.

Stereo Amp screwed into fuel tank (maybe.)

Left-side rear seat looks ... moldy?

Could be good buy. Could be a hack job resulting from neglect and being 'worked on to death.'

Needs a thorough PPI - obviously - to establish value above level of parts car.
Chances are a good buy at current 5.9k bid. But, more than that, maybe not.

Surely installing the drivers side intake tube backwards counts as a modification.

All kidding aside, it's an 89 5 speed which is above average in desirability.

Are you guys sure the rear bumper cover was replaced? The PO of my 89 put a stickon reflector that gives the S4 rear bumper a GTS look. The stickon letters are also available, mine has "928 GT" even though it's an auto. My wing is painted red, and aero mirrors were installed, so I guess mine is closer to a GTS clone than this one is :-)

So I am a douche and wrote the guy:

"Hi
Just to help you attract more buyers you might want to take the "clone" and "GTS" out of the title.
The car is missing:
PSD rear end
fender flares
painted rear wing
correct sized tires
correct mirrors
drivers side airbag
passenger side airbag
correct HVAC head unit
cabin air filter only available on GTS
GTS intake tubes on engine
all they myriad of improvements made from 89 to 93

The only thing it has that it shares with the GTS is the style of wheels and rear bumper cover.

Most likely will turn off buyers because they will know all of these things aren't there. Also, the driver's side intake tube is backwards.

It looks like a decent 89 GT. A marginally more desirable car due to first year of digital dash and it is a 5 speed.

The things you have listed as options "air conditioning, cruise
control, power steering, power brakes (upgraded as part of the GTS package), power windows, power door locks", aren't. They are standard equipment even in 1989.

I never got a response from him as I'm sure he is getting lots and lots of responses. Wondering how he's feeling about taking this car on consignment.

Who is going to attempt to explain to them the rod issue on the GTS????,

oops, I'm pimping my own offspring.

Seriously, 3 days left on auction. This is one of few times I'm really interested in the reserve, that could tell us whether they have a clue. Even mentioning "GTS" indicates the reserve is somewhere north of 15K??, If it goes there, someone is going to be very disappointed, or maybe not.

If the intake was painted like that then this guy is just a flipper, shut and close case! I feel sorry for some people out there that come into the market for any car overwhelmed and under educated about cars. Victims of car flips rest their souls.
