Happy Birthday to Tim Murphy of Murf928 Superchargers
Happy Birthday Tim!!!!
Time to get this ball rolling...... it's officially after 12:00.....
Speaking of Murf928 Superchargers, has it really been 10+ years???

Keep in mind the above thread was before the Shark Tuner.
It's pretty amazing how far the 928 performance world has come in the last decade.
Few people know the Murf928 story started back in the mid-90's when Todd and Jim decided to supercharge Jim's very low mileage 87 S4 track car.
They were basing the overall design from the supercharger setup on Todd's VW powered air cooled motorcycle that was Todd's daily driver 3/4 of the year.
Along comes this cocky, slightly arrogant Irishmen named Tim Murphy and his side kick Mike Schmidt (aka Z).
The combination of these four people (and me tagging along hoping some cool parts would fall off my way) cooked up the first Murf928 Supercharged Porsche 928.
I'll be honest, I didn't like Mr.Murphy very much when I first met him. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that every time Murphy arrived at Page Auto, Jim would stop working on my car.....
As the story goes, one day I wandered into Page Auto shortly after closing. Jim was on the phone and I hear this hollow yell from the shop area.
Lights are off, hard to make anything out, I see a silhouette in Jim race car. Low and behold it's Tim Murphy, stuck in the car thanks to a roll cage and being on the lift the drivers door cannot be fully opened. After some colorful words and creative pulling, I managed to somehow shoehorn Tim out of the car.
We've been friends ever since.
The rest, as they say, is history.....
Well, we also need to blame Gretch for a lot of this.
If it were not for his persistent nagging of Tim to produce a kit for his GT, there might have only been a handful of Murf928 cars on the road versus the 80+ around the world today.
Here is to 30, 40, 50, whatever more years
It may come as no surprise to anyone that has met Tim, he is a local celebrity.
In the early days of the Murf928 testing, a local Green Bay man flagged him down for an autograph.

Murf is one of my all-time best friends. Met him at SITM about 8 years ago, we've been friends ever since! Tim is like a brother to me. He let me set his car on fire once, that was fun. There are MANY more stories that will never be mentioned in writing.
Happy Birthday Murphy!
Nasty case of the crabs! eww...

If the 928 hasn't come along, Todd's next project was a larger flat-4 based on a 964 Turbo engine to go in the motorcycle.
He was shooting for 600hp with that one and started hand making his own crankshaft (which is still standing in the corner of the shop).
How fast is that bike? It covers the 1/4 mile faster than his ZX-11 does the 1/8 mile.
Not joking about it being a daily driver. For about 20 years on any day suitable for riding a motorcycle, Todd was on the bike.
