Does anyone have any information on this car? All the salesman has been able to tell me is that it came into Canada in 2012 and was originally sold in New York. Supposedly they are getting together the maintenance records in order for a potential buyer to look at. Sorry I can't provide anymore info. I thought had seen a VIN for it somewhere but can no longer find the web page.

It seems fairly pricey, but what do I know ........ I'm counting on the brain trust to enlighten me. And if anyone knows a place in Victoria, BC that can provide a good PPI, please chime in.

Two ads, same car ........

Where are you from? Are you interested in buying this car? I live right here and i can get more info for you, any specific questions you may have about this car?

Hey Barry;

I live in beautiful Surrey. Kinda like Nanaimo but without the waterfront.

The Mrs and I are taking a cruise to your beautiful island on the weekend for a getaway and too take a look at it.

Thanks for the offer. Feel free if you are bored to go look and give me the lowdown but don't worry if you can't.

Thank you, Luc!

Interesting. The passenger's seat is also electric. I didn't see any evidence of an anti-theft device, either.

Lock the door from the outside with the key. Leave the window down.

Reach in and unlock the door from the inside and open it.

Alternatively, turn the hatch lock key to the left (opposite opening it).
Open a door.

You will find out if it works or not.

It's not very obvious, until you trip it by accident.

My .02 on the TB and chrono age. Two years is not the half life, I believe Porsche's recommendation is 5 years or 60K miles. It's rare that any of ours reach that mileage/5 years now. I'm not recommending you let it go longer, but I've seen at least one (mine) and there are several reports here of belts safely going way past 5 years. It's really your call. A visual of the belt once a year is a good practice. If I were buying this, I would do that whether seller has records or not. I just want to see what is happening with those moving parts that touch the belt. Oh, and it's good know what belt is on there too. "Search" and you will get a ton of info on belts, water pumps, and the Porkensioner here. Good luck.

Autocheck does not show much but it was from Buffalo NY, Imported into Burnaby 2012.

I would ask for the safety inspection & importation papers when the car was imported. If they didn't clear the title with U.S customs leaving the U.S it could be a problem going south. Plus you could see the price declared bringing it in.

The price is TOP of the market in Canada with all the cheap Japanese 928's around (90gt sold for under 10k last year). Plus 12% tax & $399 doc fee on the purchase price from the dealer I would not buy it unless you plan to keep it for years & love the color combo.

Well I took it out for a spin today. The pricing was mentioned but nothing negotiated .... yet. However the people at the dealership were an extremely friendly and outgoing bunch.

A quick synopsis:
- steady idle, pulls cleanly.
- brakes are rock solid and vibration free.
- transmission shifting smoothly.
- there seemed to be a large "clunk" when shifting from Park-Neutral-Drive-Reverse at a standstill.
- everything seems tight, squeak from the sunroof over bumps. Sunroof motor can be heard freely turning after sunroof has been fully opened or closed -- is this normal?
- front and rear A/C blow cold.
- all electrical seems to work.
- dash is crack free.
- the ugly steering wheel cover is gone and aside from the typical steering wheel cracks it is ok.
- original Reno working fine and sound is great.
- interior and exterior cosmetics very good.
- off brand Bridgestone rubber - Fuzion - tires.
- rims would benefit from refinishing, not curbed but the finish has seen better days.
- the timing belt will be redone prior to sale.
- the color combo is very flattering.

Now if someone can recommend a place for a PPI in Victoria I could take the next step.

Based on what you describe, it may be a "steal". Think about what it would cost to bring any higher mileage 928 to that standard of cosmetics and wear - you'd quickly invest at least $20k ON TOP of what you pay for the car!

Remember: There is no such thing as a cheap 928, and there are not many low mileage ones with undamaged original paint and interior.

That's what I think Nicole. I once read a quote about buying a Ferrari "To buy an inexpensive one, they provide an unparalleled opportunity for personal bankruptcy."

I'm heading back to the island on the weekend to see what can be done.

Ask the dealer to have a PPI done for you to see what needs to be done/fixed. If it checks out ok and you are a serious buyer, throw a few things at them such as if TB/WP unknown, torque tube release, radiator age and it will cost quite a bit to R/R and offer them $13000.00 and slowly come up to $16000.00
I think that's a fair price, i am sure they got the car for around $12000.00
Ask for 6 months warranty and a full tank of gas.....November is a buyer market so max it out!
