Matt,
I pulled the fuel cooler on my car when I ditched the AC. Of course I had to add a couple in the back of the car later to help with the overheating fuel problem. I doubt you'll get as much heat in your system as I get in mine.
It sure makes the plumbing simpler without it there.
I also use the open ended lug nuts, but I have to use them made from steel for my tech class.

I never used my AC even though it worked well, I didn't want to make life harder for the car. But i never had much of a problem except a few times when really hot, I had to crank it more than normal to get her to fire.
So I'd like to add a cooler correctly, can you show what you did when you have time?
My lugs are zinc chromate plated steel also. They aren't lighter but seem stronger than the lightweight alloy pieces.
