After 4 years of turmoil including job loss and family health issues, we have finally reached a time of calm. Got a great job, and with no progression of symptoms with my family member's health issue, I have been able to turn my attention back to my S4.
My 15 year old son and I have had so much fun getting the S4 back on the road. It has been sitting, parked on my driveway for the last 2 1/2 years. Interior was in bad shape, steering rack leaked badly, and the high pressure steering line was squirting all over the exhaust manifold.
We finished all the repairs necessary to get it up and running just last night, and spent the evening just driving around for 3 hours. There are other maintenance issues that need to be taken care of, of course, but nothing that requires the car to be parked for a period of time.
What a blast! I forgot the power this car has. I forgot how well it handles. I forgot the looks you get at the stop lights and at the gas stations.
My daily driver has been a 2003 Jetta TDI - what a difference!
I am so glad I went through this journey with my son - and the look on his face when I picked him up from high school with the RMB rasping was priceless.

Welcome back. Glad your doing better. My son loves when I pick him up in 1st grade. I wonder if either me or the car will make it to high school. Will he still feel the same way. I'm hoping like hell I get to find out. Congrats.

That's great! I think it has been very tumultuous for many of us 928ers. Glad to see you back in the saddle with a son who can start to appreciate this stuff. Remember, it's the memories you create now that will last a lifetime. Make it count.

Ken,
Glad life is calming down for you and you ended up staying in Houston.
I am also enjoying a red 5 speed, one year older. No they don't shift as smooth as some cars, but they are still a heck of a lot of fun. Taking it to Marble Falls which should be a good bonding experience.
My son is also 15, but hasn't been out in the garage as much as I would like lately. I may have to sabotage the XBox.
We'll plan on seeing you after Christmas in the Woodlands for the yearly gathering. Let me know if you have any ideas for a venue.

As I type this, my wife is talking with our grandson. He'll be 13 on the 2nd of November, and wants my S4 for his 16th birthday. I'm going to give him one of my collector cars, but haven't decided which one. I was leaning more towards the Aero Coupe, and giving him the S4 for collage. Both will pin ya to the seat.

Congrats Ken. Enjoy the new found stability. My car has taken a backseat lately due to some "life changes" as well. I'm so lucky that it just keeps on ticking as my daily driver despite some neglect, but I'm worried that the ticking might become more ominous if I don't soon get to some deferred maintenance (TB overdue by 10K miles).
