The dream is rich in imagery, the car is clearly a metaphor for something else, perhaps a person or an object.
Stan makes a video from his POV underneath while he tackles the person/object 'in a different way'.
The 'other person' perhaps represents an oedipal complex which is jealous of the way Stan is able to work more effectively on the 'cross brace'.
The arrival of Stan's Mother and the remote control elements are disturbing..

^This. The pilots and WSOs used to talk about crazy Ambien **** all the time on Bagram. In my personal experience, we found that the one-a-week anti-malarial pills (either Doxycycline or Mefloquine, I can't remember which) often caused bizarre dreams.

Drnick, not sure how it changes things, but in Stan's video, he was struggling with his idea of the new crossbrace. He seemed far from finished, and from the look of it, you wouldn't want to put whatever he cooked up on your car.
No offense, Stan.

Hi Bob,
Nothing is wrong with you, based on the dream, anyway. You work problems over in your mind consciously and subconsciously. Your dreams pick and choose from both. You have input from many sources that fuel your dreams, and they are mixed in ways that seem unusual when viewed awake. Welcome to the club. BTW I am not an amateur.

If I may, I believe I dreamed the second part of your dream. Here goes: Stan/Mr Merlin was designing an improved cross brace but it really wasn't for his car. He was only testing the design on it and once perfected, planned to miniaturize it for it's true purpose- to be used in his super secret and highly advanced R/C car, The Merlin 5. This race car, which is actually a complete and functional gasoline automobile in 1/8th scale includes an exquisitely hand made Rolls Royce Merlin engine putting out over 2000 scale horsepower. This car would permit Stan to reclaim his laurels as the greatest R/C racer who ever lived. Besides wanting to return to Philadelphia and be with his parents, as the loving son that he is (something I highly respect), He wanted to meet up with you and especially Jim, who once competed with Stan back in the "dark days" of R/C racing in disguise and was known as "Racer Z" to let him know in no uncertain terms he was back and ready for action, so long as it didn't take him far from home or away overnight as he likes to go shopping and make dinner for his mom and dad in the evenings. And then as you were all looking at the new 928 parts and Jim/Racer Z's newest R/C design, Stan got a call from Matthias Müller, president of Porsche who knew of Stan's past in R/C racing knowing him by his racing name "928 Five Speed Racer." He wanted to know if Porsche could copy his new R/C car design and make it into a full sized car, The 2015 Porsche 928. Suddenly....
