Sharkfest? Really?
When I got the email from Pelican with the header:
"Sharks Attack Spartanburg, SC"
I was curious, so I clicked the link...
The Southeast Sharkfest is a gathering of iconic German classics, but not our iconic German Classics.
I've known for years that the 1st generation BMW E24 6 Series has been affectionately called "The Shark" by some, but didn't realize that it was a more universal handle.
So who had it first? The E24 came out in 1976 - only a short time before the 928, but could it have been the E9 that got the name when it came out? If so, we weren't first to the punch. Regardless, our cars are sleeker, much more shark-like and I can't recall the last time I saw a shark with 4 eyes.
Let them try to call their event The Frenzy...I dare them.

I live in Spartanburg. I saw this too. BMW is reluctant to let other brands invade their turf. They always hold a eurofest in Oct. to help out the local red cross. it is a good event. They are pretty generous, and it is a great place to have an event. this year the marque is Porsche.
I will drive my shark to the sharkfest and act confused...
