They got lazy on it.
They should have just replaced the entire hatch area with a sedan trunk/boot shape instead of just cutting the hatch area halfway

I have a photo with the note that Caro in Hamburg(?) made these for very short while. I think credit for the original info goes to a member from PFF. I pulled a bunch of 928 convertible images off the internet a couple of years ago.

At least you know where the photo was taken.
