That was my guess too. But it appears the harness side of the wiring might at least still be there.
At any rate, a pretty car. Needs the Rob Edwards engine reconditioning treatment but otherwise looks good via small grainy Craigslist photos...

I believe it's "Classic Grey" Nicole, but not certain given that interiors arenot as easily identified as exterior colour. Light grey anyway

Deleted cooling flaps would be a sign of 1991, but the updated door seals are not.
Early 928s like mine have been built at the end of the 1990 model year (before Porsche's summer break), and my car lacked a few 1991 typical features that I retrofitted. For example, mine came with the old style door seals, and the fillers in the A-Piller were foam instead of the later 1991 rubber style.
Now that I understand what Aryan said about the LH Cover Button - yes, I believe they updated the cover for 1991 with a plastic screw.
But the most obvious to me is the interior color - there were no 1990 models with classic grey interior! And classic grey was the only lighter grey color for vinyl dashes - the older gregreen that was phased out in 89 is much darker and was never available with airbags.
So, it could be an early 1991 that still has a 1990 harness including for the cooling flaps. I honestly don't know where to look for these wires, and how to tell, so this is something I did not look at. I'd be curious to learn more about this aspect, and check my car (VIN 0102) against it.

True. And that's because the 90 cars didn't have the updated liners. The 91 was the first model that had them as part of the improved sound insulation. The gain was supposed to be -3 dB.
