that just might be the late Tony Lapines car? The interior looks like the one he had per the photos in the November issue of Excellence.

What type of clock is that? It looks different from the VDO clocks that I am used to seeing (the text is on the bottom instead of the top)

It's the VDO clock that came with the factory rootwood option used on '89-95 cars. Only 304 cars had this option world wide, and of those, only 20 in the U.S.

It's official: I have obtained 100.0% proof that this is indeed a 1995 928 GTS with VIN # WP0ZZZ92ZSS800359 , and put "on the German road" since 25.07.1995.

PET option codes:
IXD4 Crested rim caps
IXF2 Instrumententräger Lederbezogen (Dash pod leather)
IXL4 Root wood center console, door panel and trim inlays with analog clock
IXR3 Front seat hinges covered in leather
IXU2 ?
IXY5 Leather tiptronic shift cover plate
IX23 Automatic shifter, light rootwood, including leather boot
IX28 Light rootwood steering wheel
IX31 ?
IX38 Wider front fenders, including 8 x 17" wheels on front axle
IX40 Leather sun visors with right side illumination
IX41 ?
M058 Impact Absorbers - Front and Rear
I139 Seat Heating System, Left Seat
I239 Different factory tires than default
M249 Automatic Transmission
I324 Radio CR-10
I340 Seat Heating System, Right Seat
I398 17" Cup Design wheels
M418 Side Protection Moldings
I423 Box for Cassettes and Coins
M437 Comfort Seat - Left * - Electrically Adjustable
M438 Comfort Seat - Right * - Electrically Adjustable
I488 Inscriptions in German Language
M489 Switches and Insignia in German Language
I499 Sekuriflex Windshield * (83-84)
I513 Back-Support (Lordose) - Right Seat
I537 Seating Position Control for Comfort Seat - Left
I562 Airbag - Driver's Side and Front Passenger's Side
M573 Air Conditioner
I586 Lumbar support - Left Seat
I595 Rear Spoiler with Color of Car
M650 Electrical Sliding Roof
I980 Seat Cover - Draped Leather (Front Seats in Supple Leather)

The above options explain several of what we can see from the photo's.

There is a possibility that linderpat/Ed is right with his post #16 assumption, as this car is very nearby Anatole "Tony" Lapine's city of Baden-Baden, and has been serviced there always from day 1. Actually: the same mechanic has looked after it from that day 1, and the car was only allowed to be hand washed.

If I win the Finnish lottery this evening, then I will be in a plane to Germany tomorrow (well: definitely Friday)!

Is it possible to see pictures of Tony Lapine's car, from Excellence?

I have also found a very interesting 1987 S4 in black\green and was wondering who ordered it.

I will try the lottery also tomorrow.

Good catch, I was wondering about the radio as well.

What color is the interior? Looks kind like classic gray?

The leather shift plate cover (with letters) looks cool also!

Dave, what is the inside code of your car?
It's the two letter code just next the color code on the sticker.

I assume the letter code you're referring to is the PU on the options sticker?

Here are pics of the paint and options stickers, and the original delivery invoice with the trim colour noted .. note the total price on the invoice and the options prices !!
