Found dealer fro window switches
All, I found a dealer for the window switches that keep wearing out on us. Bought a full set and am very pleased with the operation. The feel of these are quite smooth. Here's a link.

At only $4.00 a switch it was a much better option then $25-30.

I ended up buying Hans' window switches, and they (both sets) have been problem free for years.

Among other things, regulator transmission grease is old and can cause excessive current draw leading to premature switch failure.
The Porsche ones, in my experience, lasted a lot longer than the "OEM" ones that I got. The OEM ones looked cheap- the window symbol printed on them was faint- and they gave out quickly.

Someday I'll do the Hans/Paul conversion. Great product!

If the main reason for windowswitch failure is the amount of current running through the switch, wouldn't it be an easy improvement to put a couple of relais between switch and window motor?

My switches are original and iWork fine. They'd are very mechanical in nature. If you get really ,stuck you can rebuild them with a sheet of,brass from one depot.

I have the originals too and they do very well. As with any wear item on the car, I disassemble them about every 2 - 3 years and 're-tension' the contacts. No grease. They are as clean as a whistle inside. Also, the one time 'surgical' shaving of the plastic edge with an Exacto was done too.

I noticed that they're offering O2 sensors for $20. http://www.discountbodyparts.com/cat...uto%20Parts%29

Hooked on Cars is out of the labels? Anyone have another source handy (seems like I've seen them a few places.)
FWIW I tried to buy a couple of the switches and got such a runaround with their "fraud prevention" department that I told them to take the order and shove it. Will be shaving and rebuilding some time this winter instead.
Now that I'm thinking about it, my console (the shifter/radio surround bit, not the cassette bin) is so warped IDK if a simple trim of the curled plastic will be enough to restore function.
