Default Handbrake cover earth?

Hi
I am putting the interior back together and see that the handbrake cover has a copper thread that I would usually expect to be used as an earth point, but I can not see any wires to go on here.

Any ideas?

thanks Nigel

Nigel a picture would be good here,
the only ground wire in that area would be for the switch that attaches to the bottom of the E brake bracket for the E brake warning light

OK picture is good now, there are not any wires that attach to this stud
