86 auto tow starting ?
My brothers 86 auto would not turn over no starter engagement, he went out of state for the summer and returning next week need to help him out.
Told him to check:
Ground strap and positive battery cable
Relay 7 and possibly 2
14 pin connector
Last resort rap the starter
Look for a bad ignition switch
Not sure how good is is at doing this!
If he gets it started he wants to drive it 50 miles to me I remember reading somewhere you could tow an auto, drop it in gear and start it. I am not sure this can be done but this was the last resort or a tow truck.
Did I miss anything?

have him charge the battery with a 6 amp charger for 4 hours,
while thats happening, clean the grounds and possibly replace the ground strap,
I have never tried to pop start the auto but there is a detailed procedure in the owners manual,
I would presume it will take a fully charged battery to run the computer and the fuel pump.
NOTE stay away from the starter with a hammer,
more internal damage will result,
and its not likely that it has failed.
Better to check the 14 pin connector under the hood for corrosion

You can try this as an emergency measure:
(Note - This is an emergency measure, and is not recommended! If you screw up, you can start the engine in gear, with possible damage and injury!
Get a 12" piece of standard insulated automotive wire in 16 gage. Strip 1/2" from each end.
Carefully separate the 14-terminal connector near the jump start terminal. Locate the yellow wire in one corner. Stick one of the stripped ends of the emergency wire into the connector for the yellow wire, and reassemble the connector, with both sides of the yellow wire still in the connector. One bare end of the emergency wire should now be making contact with the yellow wire inside the connector.
Get the car ready to start.
- In PARK.
- Parking Brake firmly ON.
- No one in front of or behind the car.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Remove the screw-on cap from the jump start terminal.
- Touch the bare end of the emergency wire to the jump start terminal - hopefully, the starter will now spin and start the engine.
- Position the bare end of the emergency wire so that it can not touch any metal or electrical connection.

You can take out the battery and get it charged at a local auto store for free (minus you traveling to and from the auto store)
You can take out the battery and hook it up to a battery charger (harbor freight, 30 bucks... don't get the tiny ones those are bolt on your battery those stays in the car and isnt a good fit for our cars get the one that at least looks like a large orange brick) - realistically speaking this is a good investment being our sharks eat batteries for breakfast even when asleep.
You can do a battery assist jump (those hook up areas in the hood area, check your owners manual)
You can do the normal jump via the battery.

^^^^ NOTE good call on getting the battery charged up prior to starting.
Eijun jump starting the 928 should be a last resort,
as damage to the alternator and or engine computer can be caused from power spikes of the jumping vehicle.
Ref the WSM for further information
