Default Just my luck!!!

Well yesterday I called Roger to get some prices on my oil hoses and to add the seal that goes to the oil fill to my existing order. I asked how important the hoses were to replace and he said as long as they are not leaking then you should be fine. Well I was going to wait till I did my timing belt to replace all these hoses as the extra expense right now I cannot afford.

I get off the phone with Roger and proceed to start taking the oil fill and water bridge off my car. And what do you know.... The damn upper hose on the oil fill tank broke clean off when I was trying to remove it. There is no flexibility at all in this hose anymore. And guess what? This is the most expensive of the 3!!! !!+)(!#@&*$!!!

This car is fun to work on but man can it get under your skin!!

Yup. That's the way to do it. I've replaced some more than once since I got the car, but Murphy is always looking over my shoulder and if I try to get away with anything I know he's going to slam me.

Such as I am learning. Going to have to wait till payday to get the hoses... that is if I get paid...

As much as I might try to "get everything" for any larger project by ordering pieces, I've found it best to talk to my favorite vendor, tell them what I'm working on, and let them build a "Care Package" of everything I'll need. Some packages seem a little excessive when I open them, but there are very few pieces left over when I'm done. The parts guys know what a project takes, including the five subsequent calls from a frustrated owner who 'discovers' those few other things they needed on a Saturday afternoon, not available until Monday. Much better to have it all and keep the schedule from bloating, and the frustration level manageable. YMMV, of course.

We gonna have to start calling you Dr. Ed?

Some day I'll take a picture of the result of ordering 'extras' for the 'just in case' situation.....

Haha if I had the funds I would have replaced them for sure. But I'm just trying to get her started and see if there are any major issues then start tearing into it for a TB/WP job.

Just been helping other people so much that I haven't had time to do anything for myself. But now that I have moved into a house with a larger garage and working a different schedule I have more time after work and have been trying to get it done. Just little stuff like this is really getting to me and causing delays. I think Matt has a watch bridge for me. He is supposed to be looking on his old motor.

I have the box of 'spares' that are leftover bits from major project packages. Plus the original used pieces are cleaned/packed/stored. Ron Perry's car ran for a long while on my original used caps and rotors after we saw his during a TB/WP fest here. Used lower radiator hose went on somebodiy's car when they arrived here and puked coolant all over the driveway. We put a new tie to the fan support so the new-old one wouldn't get eaten by the PS belt and pulley (again). Rob brought a whole spare set of springs and Koni's to a suspension swap here for a nearby owner. Saved the day when we discovered that the shock set the victim had purchased had different threads on the tops of the two front shocks. Bottom line is that having a few surplus bits pays off once in a while. The eternal question is what to keep and what to send back. So far I haven't returned anything.

I think Rob has one or two more boxes than I do. 'Cuz he has more 928's.

Spent 20 minutes this morning looking for a spare fuel vapor purge valve in about 10 different parts boxes before remembering that A) the spare I had is now on the GTS, and B) there's one on the spare engine sitting right in front of me in the Zombie......
