Default what would you do?

I am in the process of a top end refresh and my CPS plug and wires look like this...they are a little mangled but look repairable...should I work with this...or cut it off and start new.

Had the same problem and ordered a connector repair kit from Carl to try and fix it myself. That plan didn't work out unfortunately.

Replace it. Peace of mind. Not that hard. Soak the CPS in PB blaster, she'll come right out with the right touch.

I should know, but I don't- is that the sensor end, or the injector harness end? Either way, you either need a new sensor or a new 3-pole AMP connector to repair the harness.

That knock sensor is NFG either.

The sensor end, which is male, I believe.

Edit:

Sean's right. Harness end. You'll need to repair/replace it.

I don't recall which end that is, but I would go with new for whichever it is - new sensor or new harness connector. If you try to repair this frayed end, you will increase the likelihood of your pulling the manifold earlier than you anticipated.

That looks like the harness end to me. I'd cut it off and put a new connector on there. I know Roger keeps them in stock.

When kit is in that kind of dilapidated condition you replace it and give yourself 10 pus years of breathing space.

If items have been replaced piecemeal then it is a crap shoot, if you have doubts just go through the job lot- ignition wires, rotors, distributor covers, hall sensor, CPS, knock sensors, vac connectors, water hoses, etc etc.

I am afraid there really is little in the way of short cuts/cheap options but for about $1k you can get to a pretty reasonable place in terms of piece of mind if you DIY as appears to be the case here.

Thanks for everones input. It is the harness end that you are looking at. I have replaced the cps and I will also replace both knock sensors, hall sensor, tps sensor...i will look into a plug replacement.
thanks for all the feedback

Here's a pretty good source for that connector:
