Looks like I need to check under the intake. I did a pretty thorough search in the engine compartment and didn't find any wires that had been chewed on, kinda looks like it had plenty of acorns to chew on. I keep it stored late Nov. to early April in a garage but they don't need much of a hole to get in a garage. This might explain why my cooling fans take 25 mins to shut off. Replacing the intake temp sensor, fan controller, and fan amp didn't solve the problem so perhaps it chewed on the intake temp sensor wire somewhere.

A couple dozen moth ***** spread around the engine bay, the exhaust pipe, and the interior help to keep many predators out of a stored car.

Default HMMMMM

So I saw your thread last night and had a sinking feeling. I have had my car for nearly 6 months and have done all the right stuff thus far save the air filter. Over the weekend at frenzy Roger suggested I go with a stock filter rather than the KN that was on it. I hadn't even pulled or inspected the thing so today I decided to take a look.
does this look familiar?

Wow, I think mine was worse but that's pretty bad. Get some 1/4- inch galvanized screen for the inlets as they'll be back. I was told that a mouse can smell where other mice have lived and will go there.

By the way, not to get disgusting or anything, but hoarding material is not the only thing that mice do in your air filter. They also urinate, and that gets on your MAF.

Ask me how I know...

I bought a can of MAF cleaner from an auto parts store and went to town… hopefully it will be good enough.

It happened to me on my Mercedes W202, but this was funny, my wife asking me if I was eating nuts I had on the garage because they were missing, so must be a mouse, then one day I openned the hood and I can still find nuts once in a while, this happened 5 years ago....

Some of you guys really need to get a cat to guard your car's airbox.
