REAR HATCH GLASS TINT REMOVAL
Guys,
My PO had a poor tint job placed on the rear hatch glass (NOT on the side glass ?). I would like to remove it so I can have an adequate job done throughout.
I have concerns about removing it due to the defroster lines.
How does one accomplish this ?
Thanks in Advance.

http://www.walmart.com/cp/Garment-Steamers/1070044 Purchase a portable clothes steamer from Walmart. The one for $ 30.24 will work fine and you can return it when your done. Don't even thnk about using a razor blade.02 T

Get a large black trash bag and cut it to a size that will cover the entire window.
Get some Simple Green in a spray bottle cut to 50% water.
Open the rear hatch and lay an old blanket on interior of car.
On the inside of the glass spray enough simple green to cover entire glass.
Stick trash bag to inside of glass.
Pull the car in direct sunlight for 15-20 minutes.
Remove the trash bag and the tint will peel off with it or you will now be able to easily lift it from glass.
After film is gone, get a Dobie scrubber and continue to spray with simple green and scrub with the dobie. It will not scratch the glass nor will it remove your defroster.
The link is for a case, you will only need one and should be able to get one at Winn Dixie or wherever.

Thanks fellas.
I was thinking of a steamer off the top of my head, but was concerned about the the possible effect on the defroster lines' adhesive. Unfortunately the baking in the sun method is not a possibility up here even on the longest of days.

When I bought my car three years ago, I removed the tint film from both doors, rear quarters and rear hatch using windex with amonia. The amonia will make the grue soft enough to peal the film. You have to let the amonia work a bit before pulling on the film. Then, spay more windex to clean the remaining glue.

Otis, I don't know what my PO was thinking. All things with the car were done in quality fashion from a mechanical perspective, but some of the esthetics, and this being one, were abominable.
