Default Coolant Ports? Where to?

This is for an early '86 928S 32V.

Where do those two coolant ports on the front end of the engine, covered by the water pump go to?

Is it safe for me to pour water in there? I was cleaning the front face of the engine with the water pump off and I didn't block the ports with towels. Got some simple green, PB and brake clean in there. I want to wash it out.

Drain plugs are off also.

Well, uh, one goes into one head, the other into the other head. So if the drain plugs are out of the head go ahead and flush with some water.
