Default Sluggish operation

Hey guys,

87 S4, 114k on the clock runs very sluggish, backfires slightly after it gets wet. Is the 14 pin connector on passenger fender up front? Cover on place but I think it still gets wet. After running for 30 minutes or so, everything back to normal. Any thoughts?

Ignition coil lives there too.
Search for measures taken regarding channeling water down the fender line. Material is there. Water through the hood seam runs forward along the fender ledge.

Add: From PET #2 helps channel water down the grade and not into engine compartment.

Sounds like (back fire when wet) it's time for new ignition wire set, caps and rotors at least.
Also consider the knock / hall sensors and vacuum lines too shortly afterword if they haven't been done too.

Yes and clean the 14 pin connector, but it shouldn't cause a back fire

Thanks for the info guys. I hope to do a top end refresh this winter and address all of those items. She started to purr once it dried.
