Default The birth of a new magazine about 924 928 944 968...introducing flüssig

There's a serious problem with what our Porsche magazine selection has to offer these days...and you all know what it is.

I love 911s, but I also love the 924, 928, 944, and 968. And you know what? I'm fed up with every magazine serving up the infernal 911 in different ways. As much as I love the crown jewel of Porsche, there are far more interesting stories to be told about our favorite pre-'95 water-pumpers and I ain't seeing them.

I tried to write about them as much as I could and although lots of publishers have been very accommodating in pushing these articles through...it's just not enough.

I understand the game, the trends, and the demand for this sort of material but lots of us who own these seemingly unloved cars have to wait in anticipation every month or 2 only to be disappointed. The magazines just fall short in serving up a satisfying portion of the cars we love. It's time to change that.

It leaves me no choice but to publish our own magazine. I've been talking to Jim Doerr (JADZ928), Matt Mariani (The Fixer), Derrick Bass (editor of 928OC's Thrumble) and Roger, yes that Roger from 928sRus for a bit now about the idea and they're pretty enthusiastic about it.

The focus is on 924, 928, 944, and 968 specifically. It'll be a magazine written by enthusiasts and owners for enthusiasts and owners, in a sense, our magazine.

It'll be irreverent, humorous, educational, entertaining...no limits on what to say or how to say it. It'll have real stories of real cars, driven, maintained, and modified by down to Earth owners like yourselves. The more patina the better, perfection is not the sole premise.

You guys have been very good to me here on this forum. Your passion, ideas, knowledge, and contributions are completely inspirational and from the heart. It's only fair that we bring this out into the public for those that may not know much about these cars and perhaps hesitant to pull the trigger on owning what I consider the sweetest and smoothest of Porsches made before 1995.

I called it flüssig (German for fluid, smooth) because I think it best describes the driving experience of these cars, their fluid design, and, of course how they're cooled.

The stories will come from you all. Your cars, your knowledge, your ideas, your, opinions...anything you've got to contribute will be put on these pages. Say it like you want to, there's no 'house style.' Need help putting your words down? No problem, I'll help. Remember, it's a magazine solely made from your contributions...not third party writers or photographers.

This thread will be about the creation of this magazine, so I'd like to know your thoughts and input and who would like to contribute in getting this project off the ground....

I've included a few mock-ups of covers and an editor's page to get a little feel of what direction this magazine will take (I put Jim's 928 rendering on there on a few of them). I'll also be putting a mock-up together of the first issue in weeks time to get some opinions, ideas, whatever.

Thanks guys, everyone here has been and continues to be the inspiration behind this project. Let's get these cars the recognition they deserve. It's all about you.

I like the idea and maybe it can be an International magazine,
to encompass the many different owners from many different places the cars have been sold.

This would bring many more owners into the game.
Having many different owners involved may be the kick for this idea to take off.

Funny I never really thought about owning a 911,
not that its not a great car,
but for example the 928 is just so much better for long distance travel and thats mostly what I use my car for.

Great idea Pablo.

Would love to participate somehow someday.
You're right, those cars deserve a lot more attention than what they have right now.

I hope I'll have the chance to read the first one soon.
By the way, I like the third and even more the fourth picture.

Craig...thank you. Got an idea for an article, maybe your car? It's grounds for being published.

Bertrand, thank you too. Like I said to Craig...your magazine, your content. Don't be shy! :-P

I have really enjoyed your contributions to this forum, and I think this is a great idea! And Stan's idea that it be international is right on the mark- we get a large number of posts from other countries, I think many owners will be happy to contribute.

Pablo,
Do you have an avenue for submission, or do we submit the work here ?
I like a separate avenue in order to keep the flüssig from the technisch.

I love it, what a great idea! People get tired of always seeing the 911. I know there's a lot of people who hate it when there's only a small mention of a 944 or 928,963,924 in a whole magazine and the rest is 911? I think many enthusiasts want this!

Great idea Pablo! You need to cross post in the 968/944/924 forums to let them participate & be aware too!

Thanks Martin, it'll be global for sure. This magazine is all about your contributions...that's where it'll put the others to shame.

MainePorsche, you can submit anything to me at porschepatina@gmail.com. I'll do the rest...with your permission of course.

Dennis, 911s have their own magazine...this one is ours and those guys just can't do it. When you are a 'magazine about Porsche,' you have to be everybody's bitch. We don't have to be...

AWESOME! I'll write some stuff for you.
James, you're the kind of guy I need. Wanna have your own, monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly section in the magazine? Tell me what you want, what you'll call it, and it's yours...simple as that...
