Great idea Pablo! You need to cross post in the 968/944/924 forums to let them participate & be aware too!
Yep. they're next. I need to develop a relationship with our brothers on that side...

This is a great idea. The chronicles of James Super Blu would be great. There are so many other stories out there that have not been heard. Go to town on this you have a great community here for support.

Best of luck! Don't make the same mistakes as the ones who have tried this before...

Hi Nicole would you care to share your thoughts on how to make this work?
What are the pitfalls that you have seen?
thanks, Stan

The audience for this topic is rather small. Production cost can't be spread across the same number of readers as a 911 publication. Finding the right level of quality (paper, print, design, etc) vs. cost is a challenge, unless there are plenty of advertisers. I suspect, the reason why we never saw the 4th issue of the previous 928 magazine was because the editors ran out of money... or perhaps, time and proof readers.

Are you dead set on flussig.

Might be a good place start getting community input.

Then again I'm not fluid in German.

+1, on the above

I too agree with Bertrand and find the clock detail cover idea interesting on a multiple levels. Very nice. If the magazine is good it WILL be a success and here are a few suggestions from a car guy:

Stan as a tech contributor is a smart idea, he is a walking 928 WSM..and he visualizes well which translates to great tech advice.

But there are many more here who could add a hand Pablo. Should prove the toughest decision made here.

I find this stuff interesting and hope you include in future issues:

I would include a story about Carl Fausett's (@ 928 Motorsports) Salt Flats race car in your first issue as he is doing top shelf work with the 928 for many years and could fill the 928 portion of your mag by himself for multiple issues.

This is a very expensive effort Carl makes and of great interest to many in the car guy universe. That would be an incredible story.

George's (jorj7) Road Racing is also something I find of great interest (another insanely dangerous 220 mph 928!!!)
and is a great story for the 928.
Road Racing is how racing started and there is much there to discuss. You wouldn't want to try 220mph with an
old Carrera, it may fly away!

And just about anyone who is making serious efforts in racing i.e. "Courtshark' with his race car; the Kraken.
There are many more.

This is what Porsche cars were bred to do and it should be 'a' focus of your magazine in my opinion.

Restorations and Modifications are also very interesting to readers as our cars are aging. I can try an lend a hand with that.

I am a creative person and worked with others of the same ilk. What I have learned is to not try and be different,
just try to be GOOD and you will succeed.

Great speaking with you Pablo, you are a TERRIFIC Guy.-Matt

Pablo,
Count me in for a subscription. I think it will help expand our community.

My two cents:
How about a digital monthly with one or two high quality hard copies a year.
PDF format is universal.
A balance of advertising to content. Too much may hurt the publication.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the mention, Matt! I don't deserve to be in the same breath as the others, though. My first thought seeing this idea Pablo was that you should have a dedicated section on 928s/944s/968s that are involved in track duty/DEs. I'd happily cover the beat.

Thanks Nicole...here's the plan. The magazine will be purely digital for now. I've found a great program to convert files into a digital magazine that I have shared with Derrick at Thrumble!

It's really the only way to go until we get good numbers. When this happens, we can begin to present these solid numbers to advertisers. When advertisers come on board, we can start paying everyone for their articles/contributions. Only then can we entertain the idea of print.

With every issue comes a PDF file ready to print. It'll be a lot like Thrumble! in that respect and it's the only way to go to ensure we don't go bust.

Rather than the huge capital needed to get this sucker into print, I'm investing probably the most expensive part of the deal...creative capital.

My two cents:
How about a digital monthly with one or two high quality hard copies a year.

Thank you FreedP! You summarized what I intend on doing.

The magazine will need volunteers for now. I wrote, and continue writing for free for lots of publications simply because I love it. I don't expect everyone to feel the same but again...this is your magazine.

If you want to see something like this happen, you'll have to donate a little time for now. When the ads come in, so will the monies. That's when the volunteers start getting paid.

I wish I can do it all myself, but I can't. I need you guys to make it happen.

Are you dead set on flussig.
Hi tino, I think this name is what'll help set us apart from the crowd. Lot's of rags have pretty homely names that lack spark. It's not about being cool or trendy here, the name sets a tone. Porsche is an easy word to say, and yet it's mispronounced... flussig is similar in that respect but I think it'll catch on pretty quickly. Unlike most of the German vocabulary, this word sort of flows out of one's voicebox...

So am I dead set on it? No, but for now it works.

Great speaking with you Pablo, you are a TERRIFIC Guy
Thanks Matt, I feel the same. You have great ideas and like I've told you before, it's guys like you that'll give this magazine the edge that others lack. This sentiment holds true for everyone here and it's why this concept is solid.
