Mechanic needed in Herndon, VA area
As I was driving to Dulles Airport today, I pulled in to the Herndon Post Office to mail a letter. When I got back in my '88 S4 and turned the key, the car ran for a couple seconds and then died. I couldn't get it to re-start. Not sure if it's not getting fuel or spark, but since I had to catch a flight to Dallas, I had to leave it. Unfortunately, I'll be in CA for the weekend, so I'll miss the Frenzy in VA. If anyone knows where I can get the car towed and worked on by someone who knows 928s in the Herndon area, please let me know! Thanks.

Go straight to Chapman Autowerks. Taylor Chapman just happens to be one of the best 928 mechanics you could find.

Thanks Jon. The security guard at the Post Office was going to get it towed to an impound lot so my brother did the best he could and had it towed to Autoscandia in Herndon. Anyone have any feedback on them?

Autosport Systems Group in Fairfax are very knowledgeable with 928s. Not too far from Herndon. They did the X-pipe install and fabrication on mine. Great guys. http://www.autosportsystems.net/

Chapman is essentially IN Herndon....just to the west, across Rt. 28. Herndon and Sterling literally touch at the county line. I know where Autoscandia is (2 miles from my home). Transferring it to Chapman is about 6 miles, maybe less.

Flew back to Dulles on Friday and picked up my S4 at AutoScandia in Herndon, VA. Turns out my fuel pump gave up the ghost and was the cause of my no start problem. I had planned on swapping it out eventually because it was so noisy, but its been that way since I bought the car six years ago. Anyway, it took the AutoScandia Porsche mechanic less than an hour to diagnose the problem. I consider the $824 repair bill for the pump, fuel filter and new relay a bit steep, but I guess that and a general distrust of most shop's ability to work on these cars is why I do my own work when I can. In any case, it appears to be working fine now and AutoScandia appears to have a nice shop. They made quick work of my repair. Thanks to everyone who offered help when I broke down!
