Default 14 pin connector disassembly

How do you remove the cover on the 14 pin connector?

I don't want to break it getting it off - if possible.

Are replacements available from the big 3?

Thanks

The 14 pin connector is really state of the art from a connector technology perspective.

I have seen some threads with options from removing it completely and soldering those wires togather to replacing it with a weatherpack connector.

Anyone actually taken the plunge and what connector did you use? Any concerns beyond the originality issue?

I partially re-wired mine- found it quite easy to work with- just need to make a careful note what goes where and it is shown on the wiring diagrams anyway. Not sure I would understand why something different would be required but most front harnesses are falling to bits by now- mine no exception.

Regards

I renewed my connector by replacing it by an industrial one.
see attached photo.

then you can seal all contacts ( where wiring goes in the connector) with silicon so no water can enter.
