I need to prepare myself for that, car will be very loud in every respect.

It is un-nerving when people gather around your car. At a scout meet a scout said to the group of Kids with my Son there (10 year olds)
"that thing is weird" my Son quickly replied: 'You're weird"

Imagine being one of those stuck in their cars surrounded by a over excited crowd after a sports championship. That's scary.

I get the same comments/stares when I pick up my son after high school football practice.

I'm getting almost daily comments in parking lots since I use my 928s for running errands all the time. Comments are way up in the last few years over say 10-15 years ago. Most comments go like this...

"That was my favorite sports car when I was a teen"
me: Mine too

"Risky Business man!..."
me: Call me Tom Cruise

"What year is that? Amazing"
me: 86, thanks (I leave off the .5 since they wouldn't get it)

Mine is different.

I rotate 3 to work. Blue collar parking lot.

"Wow, you've got a bunch of those Porsh cars".

Me -- and all three of them cost together cost less than what your drove today. Including parts it took me to get the running again.

This was originally a Brother Dave routine (yes I go back), but this version is fun, too...

Yep, when I pick my son up from school, he is disappointed if I'm not in the 928. His friends are like, "Gabriel's dad has a supercar!"

Even get it from adults stopping me at the train station parking lot asking about it.

Just driving down the street, thumbs up from the guys on the sidewalk.

I had one about a month ago that was so priceless that I would pay about anything to have it on video. A 5 or 6 year old boy was strapped in back in his car seat. I pulled up directly next to them in the turn lane and stopped. As they drove away this little kid did a complete 180 with his head and his mouth hanging wide open. Whether is was the noise or the shiney red car I don't know, but I do know it was absolutely priceless!

I drive my '84 every day, often with my 4 year old, and we get loads of attention everywhere we go.

The other day we stopped at the pharmacy to pick up my blood pressure meds, and I had the usual guy who always loved 928s and loved Risky Business. After we drove off, my daughter looks over and asks "Is he your best friend now?"

I had a whole minivan full of kids and a mom mesmerized at a stoplight.

When I pulled to a stop,
she leaned out and asked how can I see at night as the lights point to the sky.

I said watch this, the kids in the van were all paying attention as mom was sticking her head out the window yelling at someone.

I turned the headlight on and low and behold they popped up from their resting place and turned on, the look on moms face was priceless as was the kids.

I turned them off and they went down as quickly as they went up.

Then I did it again.

This resulted in a cheer from the the kids that were now stuck to the glass watching with intent, a few more cycles of the lights and it was time to go,

I waved goodby to the mom and kids and everyone waved back,
Bwaaaa!!, Off I went.... so cool.......

I was on a cross-country trip a few years ago. Spent the night at a motel in Salt Lake City. Came out in the morning and a retiree was loading his minivan. He nodded at my car and said "guess the headlights are s'posed to be like that?"

Another time had an invite to the Ferrari 360 Challenge at Sears Point. Rolled my window down and handed a $20 to the ticket taker. She said "that's OK, Ferrari's get in free today." Pulled up to the gate where you have to sign the release and the guy asked if I was running on the track today. I said "no just observing" and he waved me into the Ferrari/Maserati parking corral. Most fun I've had in my "Ferrari" in 20 years!

From a similar thread a couple yrs ago where I posted this story:
One of my fav. stories is once in a joint caravan with our PCA & Vette clubs, about 50+ cars were driving thru rural Ga. with the cars staggered Porsche, Vette, Porsche. Wife & I were in the only two 928s & we were about 10 cars apart. As we drove past a random house, there was a guy with his two young sons standing near the road watching all the cars drive past. When I approached, he started pointing at my car & talking to his sons. When I mentioned this to my wife later, she said, Yeah, he pointed at my car too. I told her, Hell, he was probably saying, "Look kids, there goes one of them Ferraris!".
