I was almost a little creeped out today.
Today was the first pleasure cruise I have taken in my Shark since I got it fixed. I went to pick up my boy at football practice at his school. He plays 8th grade and the varsity is getting ready for a game tonight so there were a lot of people around. I love people appreciating how my car looks and sounds but I almost felt like an alien or something with all the kids and coaches looking at the car while I was sitting in it. He goes to kind of a redneck farm school so that added to the, "what the hell is that" syndrome too,

I have exactly the same thing up here where I am. I do get that in other places as well. I got these plates to help answer their question, 'What is that' ?

I live in hickville, the next town over is the (in)famous Lizard Lick, so I get where you're coming from.
Went to the local "classic car" show a few years back.. they tried to disqualify me for putting a v8 in a Porsche!......

I drive my 81 928 to high school every day and people still wonder what the hell it is. BTW I live in one of the nicer suburbs outside of Los Angeles next to Ventura county where you see high end cars all the time, heck there is even a Rolls/Bently dealership at the local automall, I even get looks from the people in the Porsche dealership too. I even got asked if the engine in it was a small block chevy a few days ago. Just goes to show how ahead of its time in design our cars were and how cool they still look.

I live in NW Arkansas. Walmart country. There is a lot of diversity due to the corporate office bringing people from all over the world to work there. I do catch the Mercedes, caddy, bmw guy off in a day dream while looking at my car at a stoplight but the locals and especially from rural areas, i get alot of the "ding dang what the sam hill is that thang". With the college here I get some of the ... folks from the darker side of the south look at my car like it's a turd laying across a pair of Air Jordans. Complete disgust. Then you get the porsche ignorant youth with his 1986 honda accord pull nex to you and think he's about to run circles around you when the light turns green. Totally worth driving such a unique car. I love to educate the people here.... usually in 3rd gear.

It's amazing what get's your attention. 928 Timeless classic! (off topic) -I was at a local car show with a Bugatti, 356's, Mustangs, Cobras, 60's/70's muscle cars, etc. I was amazed and spent the most time looking at a mint condition Ford Pinto? I can remember the last time I saw one!

Yes, I just love when the teenager in the Kia with a whale tail on it starts revving his lawnmower at a light. Most times I smile and let him go, but if I get the sense he's a wisea$$, I let him have it.

I totally understand as it happens to me time and time again.
Lots and lots of money in fort mcmurray, 1000 hp 1/2 tons, 1500 hp camaro's but the looks that I get from the 928 are thumbs up at the lights and also the ******* porsche owner look when we go to walmart or somewhere similar.
I do enjoy pulling in behind the vette's, F cars and lambos at the Fairmont and having the valet park my car

Have yet to get to experience these looks and whatnot you all talk about - that's coming soon enough. However, on a rare occasion I get looks and questions in my 924, mainly from those who weren't sure if it was a first-gen RX-7 or a 944.
