There was an interesting effort a few years ago that showed how the D90 is a flat with some metal removed to "open the window". These look like less metal was removed, so I'm not quite ready to condemn them as risky-weak. The looks? Moms love their own ugly kids. Much more important than whether I like them. the flats are kind of the red-headed outcasts, where many have been replaced with a more modern/open style. I'm keeping my immaculate original flats with the car for some future collector. I changed them because good 16" tires are so tough to find in correct 16" sizes. Mine still have the -original - BFG T/A's on them. I wouldn't drive on them...
