Default Instrument lighting failure

I went to change out the light bulbs with LED's (3) as will as add reflective foil to the prisms. Now the left side works but I can't get the far right side to light up. All the gauges work but as the photo's show the tape wire is really buggered up as well as a broken tab connector. I took it to the VDO repair shop in Palo Alto and they told me that new parts for " Grim Reaper" Porsche's are not available and to find a the back on eBay etc. They said that most any year will work. Are they steering me in the wrong direction and is this the way to go
Also note that the 3 LED lights that I change out only two of the bases are the same. The one is different and this is the portion that does not light up. I would like to change all the bulbs to LED's if possible.

I did the hard wire conversion last year as my film was dark purple from age and one tab broken. Hard wire does not require the tabs be intact. About $50 in wire, terminal connectors, radio shack terminal bars, solder and a couple of Molex connectors plus a few hours time and it works great. Search for my posts and you will find a thread and some pics.

Hardest/ most time consuming part was figuring out how I wanted to lay out wires and connectors. I have done a second one for another owner that went quicker since I used the same wiring layout and heard it also worked well.

Think I still have the wiring diagram I used if interested.

Did you test all the leds w/ a 9v battery, this also insurers you have the polarities correct.

Thanks
I think I going for a newer cluster and I'm going to check all the leds as well.
Dave: did you change all the small bulbs to LED's or just the 3 large ones?

On the dash I did the three mains and the pod switches, HVAC, clock.
I may try the others on the Gold car when I pull the pod this winter now that I have a working dimmer thanks to Ed
