This is mild compared to some of the ones i've built over the years.
I did a short journey into db drag super street 3-4 and 5+ competitions it was fun but all in all it's just lots of bass and not much else
Maybe I'm wrong, but that sounds like sitting in a parking lot with his stereo cranked up with the engine idling. Which is cool, I get it and I like it.
That's not our thing, our meager (but period-correct) sound system would absolutely melt. But for what Benchracer wants to do, it's a terrific solution.

We're all into different things, and for what we like to do, without some sort of smart regulation this is not a good solution. We would absolutely melt the battery in the first six hours of driving and be stranded alongside a deserted two-lane road in BFE.

Please don't misunderstand, I like cool tech and I really like these alternators. And paired with a halfway-intelligent regulator it would be the perfect solution for any high-current application.

Cheers, Jim

You'll have to pardon me as it's been a hot long day and ive been up far longer than a living person should stay up.
You want tech i'll get you tech info from that manufacture next week.

The stock system works ok when cold... as soon as it reaches temp it's thermal efficiency is well frankly pathetic. hence why if falls on it's face with only factory accories on ac/headlights

13.8 v at running temp did you read the results??

also 13.8 at idle with lights ac no stereo

14.57 is only when cold after about 15min it settles in to 13.8

now with ac stereo lights everything but the motor off its showing 14.275 at temp

14.8 its max output ONLY when cold at max output AND at 4k rpm or above....

Now if i was 15.5 or above i'd be cooking electrical components and without a doubt be running a external regulator like jim suggested

You don't think it will live long alan yet i have 75k brutal miles with hours of time under extreme loads running heavy lighting or running a 18k warn wench.on two of there 300 amp units. when hooked to my 5th wheel the alternators are charging 5 large batteries.

The heat my duramax generates under the hood is soooooo far above what the 928 makes considering I've seen sustained egt's in the 1,000 to 1,200 degrees with short 1,400 yet there sill kicking they have been caked in dirt soaked in water everything you would wouldn't want to do and never a single issue

i'm running the same agm's odyssey's under hood in this setup that i installed in 2009 not cooked from heat or voltage i even let the truck sit for 3 months this year everything connected while fabbing up components and the they held 12.7 volts never needed a charge...
This system with no load sits at 14.95 volts..... with heavy 300 amp plus loads at idle 13.8
no issues with anything nothing

Now with that being said i would suggest this to someone who is looking for a reliable unit for year round use as you'll probably never put it through the horrible treatment like i have tho most people could go for the lighter duity version.

now off to bed.

i'm not a full time competitor anymore but i still love SQ stereos. And in sq it's tested with the car not running just batt power.
