To find a truly sorted S4 under $10k would take a miracle (edit: the 89 you linked looks pretty solid; what's the exchange rate right now?). And the sorted OBs are commanding a premium now, too.
But when a GTS sells for $70K+ it is not an outlier deal on the up side with someone over paying?

Here is a 91 needing a little work for $9500 (show up with 8K cash see what happens)

GTSs in that price range tend to have absurdly low miles and be basically perfect. What were talking about is the market for a "sorted" car, not a garage queen.

Worth maybe 3-4k. One of the roughest S4's I have seen to date.

It's amazing how a car can look good in pictures and be so trashed.

Exactly.
I went and looked at a 86 928S just to see how it was for the price and same thing needed everything in and out.
Rugs torn up,***** missing on dash, floor, molding falling out, paint didn't match was faded out even thou it looked good in pictures.
It also had a dent the size of a football, under car had more oil on it than probably in the motor as it didn't sound good either, drivetrain also vibrated.
It would take as much to get it in the shape of a car priced alot higher and what you end up with is a roached out car that took alot of work to make it look good.
Alot of time wasted too,to do all that work to get something in good shape, easier to just work overtime at work and buy a nice clean car!
Most of the times if the car looks like trash, the rest goes for the drivetrain and the care that it received from past owners.
Adam, you know how your car looks compared to others, hold out for your price area.
After spending the time to look at a few other cars just to see how they compare went home
looked at my car and thought someone will end up with a nice car and will know it once they see it.
