Could he just put on a lower oil cooler like my S4 has and plug the ports on his radiator?

How did you diagnose the oil cooler in the radiator as the problem?

The way I would do it is to take the radiator out. Disconnect the oil lines. Fill the radiator with water. Pressurize the oil cooler and wait to see bubbles inside the radiator.

Dishwasher detergent is good for cleaning all the oily crap out of the system - its non-foaming (this is important! don't use clothes washer detergent), and breaks down the oil very effectively.

Drain the system, remove the reservoir and clean it in the sink to get rid of the sludge and residue, before putting it back.

Then fill the a bucket with warm water and dissolve a lot of detergent in it, fill the car and top off with more water before running the car until its nice and warm, then drain ( from the radiator *and* the block drain plugs) - I did two cycles of this to make sure it was clean.

Flush thoroughly with water afterwards until the lemon scent has gone , before refilling with correct coolant mixture and driving.

Great tip! Thanks!

I'll use that tip for sure!

The reservoir looks like a PITA to get at. How much did you need to remove to get it out?
