Default I do miss this place

I have to give you guys credit where credit is due.

I stopped coming on RL because most of the threads on the board of the 996 are "new to me 996", "price check", "squeaky wheel how do I fix it".

I buzz in here once in a while because of my love for the 928 and I then remember why when I had my 928 I was on this board at least once a day.

Your posts are actually issues and there is so much knowledge from the DIY group here. And it is accurate knowledge.

I not saying anything bad about my 996 group.. But you guys are light years ahead in the DIY category. I am not sure the 996 will every reach this level.

Its always a pleasure stopping over here.

Kyle

Don't worry the 928 owners were just like the 996 ones are now......15 years ago. BUT the shift of the DIY-ers buying 996s has already started. Give it a few more years and there will be more of us on the 996 board. Head up 928 owners...those cars are getting very cheap now.

IMO... 996 are cheap and will continue to be cheap in the future. A forgettable 911 design and not up to Porsche standards mechanically.

We have to be. With few exceptions (like if you live in Anaheim), if we don't DIY, it's not going to get done. The 996 guys just head down to the local Porsche dealer and let him do it.

Just a matter of time for the 996 DIY explosion. Sadly, it will probably start on the renegade hybrid outlet. LOVE the 996, so I'm not bashing. Just sayin.

Why would you even say this? Shark Attack comes back on the board to give us a very nice compliment, and you diss his car. Why would you even do that?

Btw, Shark Attack, thank you for the very kind words.

I thought it was cheap too, especially since it is all opinion. I like the look, and the cars were amazing when they first came out - the first series water cooled 911. As to the "Porsche standards", yes there are IMS issues and RMS issues, but those are apparant on any M96 engine, including Boxster. Also we have our issues too, like timing belt design related and thrust bearing failure issues. Kyle knows his Porsches, better than most, and I don't think he holds the same opinion as you.

What car doesn't have issues?!! Believe me, I like to spread the wealth when it comes to Porsches, just among some other models. Back to the OP topic, which I derailed a bit, this is by far one of the best technical forums I have run across on the internets. We have real experts chiming in on a regular basis along with a good dose of very knowledgeable grease monkeys. I would not be able to do half of the work I do without this forum.
