Default Balancing New Clutch & Flywheel??

Do I really need to take out the flywheel and front pressure plate and have the entire assembly balanced?

I am in the middle of replacing my rear pressure plate/diaphragm, both clutch discs and throwout bearing assembly. The front pressure plate and intermediate pressure are fine. Do I really need to remove the flywheel and front pressure plate and send it, along with all the new parts to be balance?

No.

There should be dots on the friction plates that indicate the heavy side. Place those opposite each other.

Don't ignore the dowels, if yours has them. The bolts alone don't center the intermediate plate well enough. A big hassle, but makes a difference.

Glen, thanks for mentioning the yellow dots on the clutch discs. Knowing that the discs are marked and relatively light, I was not too concerned about them, if I was just changing them. My real concern was changing out the diaphragm and rear pressure plate which are significantly heavier.

I really do not want to do the work to remove the flywheel, send it out and source new bolts for it if I do not have to, yet I do not want to put all this back together only to find a bad vibration from the assembly.

There should also be dots on the intermediate plate and pressure plate indicating the heavy side if I'm correct. They should also be placed oposite each other.
