Default Relay question

I set out to find a battery drain on my car today so connected a multi meter and started pulling fuses and relays. The ignition relay appears to be drawing the extra current so I will replace this.

When I started the car I got and warning message “control” with the ABS & differential warnings also coming up and the speedo does not work.

So I assume the Control Unit, Speedometer relay is now gone as well (part 964.618.221.00 on a Euro 1991 GT) but just noticed this is almost $300 to replace!

Question is – could I have killed the relay if I connected it “the wrong way round” as it is unfortunately possible to do with this specific relay?

Is there any way to get the relay tested? I would hate to spend 300 bucks and then it is not the relay as it worked fine before I started messing with it…..

Have you checked whether you just blew the ABS fuse 28?

It is ? seems very odd that that would be possible...

I checked all fuses again and all are fine....

Alan.... just looked at the picture I was about to post... and it is not possible to put the relay in the wrong way around....

Is there any way to test the relay or could I maybe have damaged something else? As you know these are not easy to remove without the correct tool.....

These numbers don’t mean much to me but I tested the resistance with a multi meter and between pins 6&7 it is 1.76 (multi meter set at 2K ohm) and 0.9 between pins 5&7.
Below the details of the pins on the relay casing
1 = 15
5 = ausg. (assumes this means output)
6 = eing. (assumes this mean input)
7 = 31

any ideas?
I am pretty sure it is not the relay but would be great if someone here knows how to test it.
otherwise, how do I test the rest of the wiring on this circuit - removing the relays whilst testing for the battery drain were a pretty tough job so the CE panel took a bit of strain - where can I check for any possible loose connections. Also - does a 91GT have the speedo sensor wiring coming from the spare wheel area - while I pulled relays my "assistant" disconnected and reconnected all that is a wire he could get his hands on in the rear of the car around the battery area so I am thinking there may potentially be an issue there....

take a picture of the relay and the pin numbers and we can tell you how to test the relay,
if it has a diagram on it,
also post the diagram of the relay pin layout
also what socket it came out of the CE panel
