Default Wheel Stud Thread

Guy I took the back wheel off last night. When removing the studs one made a horrendous noise and sure enough the nut was stripped. The wheel stud doesn't look damaged although I tried by hand to put one of the other nuts on and it didn't want to go on easily. So I am hoping I can save the stud with a Die set. Any idea what size I need?

I have never used one of these before so I'm not sure exactly what I need. I think my options to get a set today would be one of these.

I swear this car is trying to break my will.

M14x1.5, same as VW - I carry a set of VW open ended nuts for when I need to use the spare. Some threads on the engine are probably the same.
A "thread chaser" would be better than a die as it will cut less. Lubricate, and clean up well.

Mike

look up Tracy tools on the interweb, they have all sizes of taps and dies. If you want to use it just the once get the cheapest, but if you need to do more get HSS dies, as above M14 x 1.5.

Thanks guys ended up using a die which was all I was able to get my hands on without going online. Got it from Wilkinson Machinery just off Leith Walk in Edinburgh who were very helpful. Was able to just screw the die on by hand and clean all the alloy out of the thread. Think I'll keep the die and a couple of spare bolts in the boot alongside the spare wheel just in case.
