Default Dash light repair

I'm rebuilding my dash and getting light into the pod is a priority.
In reading a few write ups on the forum I noticed that
there are a few in depth write ups about LED replacements and but they all seem to be in later cars.

It appears that these triangle shaped surfaces when new should reflect. Has anyone used a mylar tape to restore?

Can the small bulbs be replaced with LED's. This is a pod from an 80 which I think is different from a later S4 an newer

You've probably seen my lengthy write-up for upgrading instrumentation lighting to LEDs ("Converting Porsche 928 Interior Lighting to LEDs"); it's mostly useful for S4 and later cars.

About half a year ago, Jeff Shuberg posted some useful information that I believe would be helpful for your car.

This stuff worked great on my '79, equally reflective on the adhesive side.
