Dave,
I moved the 86.5 suspension, same as S4, to our 84 Euro car.
There is a section of the WSM that lays out the differences between the parts.
I found the front sway bars to be slightly different.

Jim Bailey said some guys use the S4 upper arms, but the old lower A-arms.
I guess they get a huge caster advantage that way for the track.
Basically both the upper and lower S4 arms are shorter than the S.

Below is the thread blog. Rambling, not perfect, but it may help you visualize as there are some contrasting pictures of some parts. For you pros the swap will be kid stuff, just a little tedious.

The donor car in the picture and in the other embedded threads should be familiar to you as Laurel and I delivered engine and harness to you in Detroit last year. BTW, I found the missing engine lift loop and have it in a drawer here with your name on it.
