So, what is this for? It has never been hooked up to anything during my ownership? Lights the test light with key on, not when the key is off.

That went to the temp switch on the drier. Used for of all things, turning on the aux fan when condeser gets hot.

I used the power line going to the wiper motor - it is ignition switched and easy to get to.

Actually it isn't ignition switched (15) - its actually X-Bus switched (X) - which is even better for this application - since it turns off during starting.

This is true of all models, all years. Don't take significant power from here but as a control line source its a good bet for lots of things in the engine compartment. No good for anything that must be active during starting (that's very rare though).

Spal do some modestly priced kits for installing fans. It should be possible to get one that has a relay switched power supply. Similarly, they do a neat programmable controller kit for not too many $$.

You can also get a kit to mount a temp sensor in the water hose. Maybe you can interdict a signal from the stock temp sensors to directly switch from.

Regards

Fred

The unit I'm using has a relay and a fuse.
Funniest thing happened though. I drew power from the spot I mentioned earlier, and the AC fan somehow ended up being switched on by the controller instead of the SPAL's.
I have no idea how that happened. I am going to try tapping into the wiper power, and see if I have better luck. I know I followed the directions properly...

Anybody know what this plug is for? It is very conveniently located for my wiring.

Seems to have key switched power. It has been unplugged and wrapped in electrical tape since before I took ownership.

It has three pins and rests just over the left front shock.

Thanks,

Yeah, three pin. I actually don't know the wire colors. They are in black harness that runs to the plug. I can slit it open, but I thought maybe someone would just know.
