Default problem with interior light and something else...

Hello guys....

my '92 GTS has got a strange problem, I never noticed that untill I went in another 928 GTS, 1993 maybe....

This is the scenario:
central interior light has no power, fuse seems ok but I changed it, on the other GTS with low beams on I opened the door and I heard there was a "gong module" telling you are getting out without tunring off the lights....(please don't laugh, I have no idea of the correct name for that).
M

My car has no sound like that and no light from the lamp above the rear view mirror....the only sound comes from the horn.....
Can you tell me what I have to check, please?

I tried to search for it on the wiring diagrams of a 1993 models, but I have found nothing for the central interior lamp, nor for the "gong"....

I hope this is not the first time you read a problem like this.
Regards from Italy
Francesco

Do you get the chime when you open the door with the key in the ignition?

Do any of the lights work in door switched mode? - If not - then its possible the car doesn't even know the door is open...

Start with what you know - the light doesn't work - fix that first - search is your friend - this is probably the most common electrical issue - tons to find...

There is a relay located behind the center console. That relay should have a speaker built into it. A previous owner may have replaced it with a relay that has no speaker to eliminate the noise it makes from a door it thinks is always open, key always in ignition ect. If that relay has no speaker then get a relay that does. This relay is formally known as the seat belt relay and it is what makes the chiming noise. Remove the carpet covers on the side of the center console and it should be attached to the torque tube tunnel. Have fun.

It is also possible that the wire shorted against the ceiling and melted the wire somewhere. Good luck.

My chime works oh so quietly. Just right.
