Default 1989 928 GT Lucky find

It was suggested that I share this post here.
About a month ago I purchased a 1989 928 GT. It appears that its the first GT in North America (by its serial Number) see photos.

Do you think its a collectable?

I can't see myself selling it...my first Porsche was a 1971 911T Targa, which I bought 24 yrs ago and I still own (you can see the tail end of it in the garage) the second being the Cayenne S and then this 928GT. I love working on these cars, but they are definitely getting more complicated!

Here is a you tube video of my 1971

I'm not picking up yours as the first, but the 4th, if I haven't missed any with the 639 GT code. The three before are also Canada (C36) country code.

Very nice car nevertheless, and any GT, especially an 89, is collectable.

Yes, 3 GT's earlier than yours:

WP0JB0922KS861089
WP0JB0922KS861092
WP0JB0926KS861094

That said, they were probably all built on the same day, I'm not sure I understand the hype about the 'first' of any car, there were development mules , pre-production samples, etc. Whatever.

You have a beautiful '89 GT with its original wheels. That's about as good as it gets in 928-land!

Not worth anything at all and certainly not collectable - to make things worse it has the crappy 5 speed gearbox.
I am feeling generous today so I will take it off your hands for $2500.

I agree, I've shifted enough gears in my life. Automatic is the bomb!

I'm a little more generous than Roger (except when it comes to M8 x 45 bolts) so I'll offer $2600 and a 928 Owner's Club shirt, XL.

Thanks for this insite, I stand corrected. I've been trying to find as much information as a can. Where did you find these numbers, Rob?
Thanks again

Someone much more computer savvy than I once found a way to extract source data files out of an older version of PET, which can be queried by VIN number for the option codes that indicate a particular model.
