Default Options to replace the rear speakers

The cone in one of my rear-most speakers is cracked and non-functional and the one on the other side looks like it could go at any second. I could get used replacements but would likely end up with the same problem again due to the orientation which puts them in direct sunlight most of the time. Are there any good replacement speakers that require little or no modification to the existing configuration?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

The same person sells a kit for the doors of the later 10 speaker cars. I think that one of the pairs of the speakers in that kit may fit your rearmost position (not 100% sure). He did some testing that showed that those speakers detracted from the overall system quality.

Search for relevant posts from him (or he may choose to comment here).

Any thin 4 inch speaker would fit, I'm going to use JBL as I have had good luck with them and the magnet on the back is massive they are JBL P462 4" Two-Way Coaxial Loudspeaker Pair. I test fit them and they do fit. I'm betting Hans has a better alternative he gets custom made.

I left mine out when I rewired and updated. I don't think I'm missing anything!

I have 4" Pioneers back there, ones with the tweeter lying across the center. From my crossovers only mid and high frequencies are being fed into those speakers. They do fine for what I want them to do.

As other have commented, those rear speakers really dont do the system any favors. However, if you are looking for a replacement, the Fountek FR89EX-4 will fit under the factory grill with a simple adapter:

Hope that helps,
Hans
