These type of conversions are found predominantly in countries where sports car taxes are exuberently high.. im talking REALLY HIGH. So to get around the tax a bed conversion is done and its no longer considered a sports car. Hence much lower tax. I had wondered why I had seen so many and asked. Now... why one would be in the USA? DUNNO...
