Default Help - Instrument Panel Plug Connections - Resolved

Getting desperate... Any ideas of where I might find this info?

I had to remove the Pod and Instrument Panel to replace the Defroster Flap(928 573 077) diaphragm(bitch of a job even with guidance from Mr Merlin) but that is a story I will document later.

When I disconnected the 4 electrical connectors(2 left, 2 right) from the instrument panel I did NOT label them. I guess I figured that Fritz would have keyed them so you could not accidentally insert the wrong connector in the wrong location. Sadly I was wrong as both connectors are happy going in either locations. Rather than hope I got it right I figured I'd ask the collective brain for advice.

This is a LHD vehicle - 89S4 with Digital Dash.

I need help figuring out which connector goes where. From several pics I found on the forum it looks like the Left connector with 2 RED/BLK and a BRN wire at the top of the connector is the most forward connector towards the engine bay. The Left side connector nearest the driver has YLW and GRN/GRY wires near the top closest to driver.

The right side relative to the driver has BLK and WHT wires at the top of the connector nearest the driver. The Right side connector has a BRN nearset the engine.

Look carefully - I believe the plugs are constructed so they cannot be mis-mated.

Bill you are right. The connectors are in fact different sizes so they cannot be put in the wrong slot. I got my fat head inside the pod area and determined one connector is about 3/16" bigger than the other.

Sorry for panicking. She's all back together and everything is working as expected...so far. I will post instructions on the Defroster Flap Diaphragm repair in a day or so which is how I got into this pickle in the first place.

Thanks to Mr Merlin for his patience and help with the repair.
