Default Headlight adjustment

Probably done to death, but have searched and not found a plausible solution yet!

928 auto '82 recently failed its MOT (UK annual inspection) as the lights flip up too far forward and there is insufficient play in the headlight itself to allow for adjustment to raise them back adequately without the adjustment impacting on the light covers to such an extent that the top retaining screw will not fit back into the pod. .

My question is this, is there an adjustment retaining screw somewhere to limit how far the lights come up via the bar or is this the typical failure of the headlight adjustment **** ?

Your help as always is very much appreciated.

Ken, thank you for this, I had sourced this page, but suspect I had missed the second page that effectively explains how to go about it.

If I am reading it right therefore, the only solutions to over extended headlights are

1) recommission the silicon tubing system which appears to be as useful as a chocolate teapot

2) purchase two plastic rods that effectively remove the actuator from the equation

( and on which delivery charges and customs will no doubt be twice the price

of the items themselves coming from USA)

3) use the adjustment screws within the headlight pod to fully back up the light to the extent that the casing then has to sit over the nipple on the headlight and distort its shape?)

My previous 928 (MY88 S4) had the "tented" pod distorted by that top adjustment screw. Always irritated me, especially at night when the rhs tell-tale was not visible!

I wish PO/mechanic had gone the US plastic arms route before distorting the pod.

As Ken suggests Roger will have a very reasonable and fast postage solution. You may have to pay a tiny amount if VAT on import and at worst handling charge £8.

But you could also try to order those parts via OPC, who will deliver them overnight from Germany for free if necessary if they are not in stock at Reading. Ring them and ask the parts dept. Sorry I don't have the part numbers to hand.

Thanks for the comments guys, Stratford shark, I believe that the parts are not porsche but made specially for Roger and they would appear to be longer than the OE part.

Any reason why the Porsche 928.631.203.03 won't fit?

I thought that's the part used when US importer has the "federalise" the lights?

I'm sure Roger or someone here can put me right!

Part I quoted above may be wrong. In the 1991 PET (which of course uses electric motors), that part is shown as "bolt".

But there is also "support" 928.631.201.02

No further info in PET on which is used to replace motor in adjustable system.
