Default CL ad for LSD

Noticed this ad on CL.

What kind of due diligence would be needed to ascertain if this does have the higher (numerical) ratio that came on '89's?

Other suggestions to check it out?

Thanks!

Count the teeth on the ring gear and divide that by the number of teeth on the pinion gear to get the ratio.

Assuming it's from a US transmission (A28-04, -07, -12, or -16), the ring gear is the same '85-89 (all have 33 teeth), pinion gear has either 15 teeth (85-88) or 13 teeth ('89)

Good sign that the pinion gear is included, seller realizes they need to be a matched R&P set. Biggest issue in my mind would be the condition of the friction discs in the clutch pack.

For $500, how can you go wrong? Limited slips are not getting easier to find....

The clutch discs are a wear item. Unless the clutch pack is new I would rebuild it before installing.

Exactly! 100% correct^^^^^

Not many, here, understand this. They think this stuff lasts "forever".

Friction discs wear out....they are supposed to wear out!

If they don't get replaced, when they get worn, they will eventually "smear" the moly surface and ruin the inner pressure rings and outer disc/discs. Pressure rings, alone, were $250 each (per side), last time I bought some to replace ones that got ruined.
