I am going to guess its sport seats being you have a 89, but yes those seats are tight in both the bottom and the waist areas especially being it isn't used much so it is more tight when compared to the driver side which it is always being sat on.

They are VERY uncomfortable for me. I feel like I'm falling into the seat rather than being supported by it.

: Do my "stock" seats feel uncomfortable because
Your seats in the pic provided are flat as pancakes, they are shot. Why so bad, I don't know.

Comfort in a seat has to do with a number of factors, angles, lengths, types of support. Once your seats are in good shape you can still affect the comfort level by adjusting the seating position, maybe raise the part under the knee, raise or lower the whole seat, change the angle of the backrest, ......until you find the best position.

Here are 2 pics I already have uploaded that show how a 928 seat SHOULD look. The little pillows going crossways should stand out by about an inch, yours are FLAT. That is cushioning and creates air pockets. I have always regarded 928 seats as some of the most comfortable seats anywhere.

note on a rebuild, there are many different foams and densities.

They are --not-- sport seats. The center pillows are wider than the sport seats, and the kidney bolsters are standard where the sport seats have pronounced wings on them. Nothing special about the ones I have, except that the raff leather option has relatively loose covering over the pillows (the pads between the bolsters).

The seats are currently cocooned in plastic bags (annual conditioner sauna..) or I'd snap a picture. There are some partial pics in the seat resto thread from a few years back, if I can get search to find them... Look at This Post to see pics from my resto efforts.

My GTS 12 way comfort seats were indeed the most comfortable with several long trips with >12 hour days of driving and feeling completely fresh no issues. Ford etc seats start to hurt me at about 2.5 hours - so huge difference...

However recently in last 2 years my seats have lost much of their comfort... I think the foam is shot finally... they start to hurt after only an hour of two for driving. My wife says is just my old body - but I donl't think so - my tolerance is the same as it was in other cars..

So pretty sure I need a seat foam refresh - at least. They don't look much different though - feel a little firmer and a little flatter maybe...

When I got my car the seats felt like the foam had died inside (the leather was shot, so it was logical that the foam would be bad), but I never got to do any long runs in the early days of ownership. When I got them fully recovered, I made sure the upholstery man knew to put stock foam back in, and not overdo it - I had previously been through a re-foam seat issue, and on first attempt I needed the roof to be lifted about 4 inches.
Anyway, they came up fine, we can do 6 hour runs with no discomfort at all - early stock 'chocolate block' seats.

I have Scheel seats in my 911. Very comfortable, as good as my 928 seats. Don't know if they are still available, but the Scheels are manual adjustment, so probably would not fit everyone.

My question was not worded properly. Trying again: are your seats more comfortable after they'd been restored.

So, to those of you who deciphered my question, thank you. It seems like the consensus is that, yes, the new foam from a seat restoration will be significantly more comfortable than 27-year-old foam.

My thinking is that my seats look the way they do because the leather shrunk from age and UV exposure. As they shrank, the stitching gave way. All of the nice "pillows" have become a mass of tired foam.

The reasons I started this thread were that I couldn't find a thread like it already, and I've been confronted with a situation: yet another of the joysticks (this time on the passenger side) has gone bad. I feel like I have to change one of these joysticks every year, and rather than keep flushing money down the toilet (especially since I need new cam sprockets, among other things), maybe the thing to do would be to buy used Porsche seats for another model and retrofit to the 928S.

Is there a list available that shows which seat rails are compatible with the 928 rails? I searched and could not find one.
